Memory / Ruckstuhl / 2013

Memory is a three-dimensional rug made with an experimental approach to materials of pure new wool that reflects both tradition, and the spirit of the times; computer technology.

Memory draws inspiration from the heart of the ubiquitous connected devices that we rely on for working or communicating, for playing or taking photographs - the printed circuit board, or PCB.

With the help of cutting machines, computers and craftsmanship, a precisely defined play of forms and rhythms is rendered for Memory, which reflect the PCB's transistors, chips, and plugs. The structure of the individual technological-looking elements practically suggest an oriental rug, while freshly reinterpreting this millennia-old tradition.
